Terry MorseFog Island (1945)

Leo, a former convict, is living in seclusion on an island with his step-daughter, the daughter of his late wife. Leo was framed by a group of former business associates, and he also suspects that one of them killed his wife. He has invited the group to his island, tempting them by hinting about a hidden fortune, and he has installed a number of traps and secret passages in his home. He is aided in his efforts by a former cell-mate who holds a grudge against the same persons. When everyone arrives, the atmosphere of mutual suspicion and the thick fog that covers the island promise a tense and hazardous weekend for everyone.

Subject: Good Stuff
Everyone knows this story regardless of whether or not they have seen this particular movie.

Someone sets up an old house full of traps and lures greedy unsympathetic guest with a simple playing of their greedy nature. Most of the people die except the pure ones.

In this case it is an ex-con who is upset about the prison time he received after a deal went bad with the people invited to his isolated island. In stereotypical fashion only the innocent survive and don't say I spoiled the surprise cause that isn't one and that is not the type of surprise to look for in this type of film.

Some interesting tricks and traps permeate the house and are quite entertaining. The characters may be two dimensional villains but the way they interact with one another and blackmail, backstab and try to find a fortune is more than redeeming.

Very good B movie.

This is one of those fun old movies that involves a large old house with greedy guests each whom receives a gift of a clue to what may make them wealthy, if they don't bump each other off first.

Subject: GREAT FLICK
George Zucco always plays a serious role and make it come off as a classic.

Another nice film, to pass some time with.

Subject: Good, but lacks tension
This is a tale of well-deserved revenge on a group of despicable characters by a wronged man. A young couple is added into the mix, I assume, for balance. They start their lives together at the end with secrets and lies. Irony, albeit weak.

Two of my favorite B-movie bad guys, George Zucco and Lionel Atwill, star, but they have only one good scene together.

The MPEG-4 video is OK, but the distortion in the audio is annoying. Still, all the dialog is understandable.
