foreign investment's OP.3 performance for "Good Diversions",
Liverpool July 2006
Good Diversions: Curated by Alan Dunn. Three groups of artists have been invited to create a set of Good Diversions for July 2006, re-routing our senses away from everyday life amidst the shifting sand of Liverpool's city centre.
"Foreign Investment have had legendary Liverpool band Deaf School select 10 songs that readers of The Echo will vote for to hear performed by the street musicians. Confirmed times: Wednesday 5th July, 10.00am-12noon F.I. and street musicians visit the building sites at Paradise Street, Colquitt Street and Hanover Street, bedecked in stark black & white futuristic garb. Thursday 6th July - F.I. and 3 street musicians on horse & carriage, 3.00-4.00pm. Approximate route times: Berry Street at Duke Street (3.10), Bold Street (3.15-3.35), Church Street, Williamson Square (3.45). Look our for flyposted artworks around the city centre from Monday 3rd July onwards."
foreign investment is a collaborative work of art and an international artists collective founded in London, 1996
foreign investment's select interventions could be described as open manipulations of every-day rituals, such as the exchange of a coin for an object. foreign investment has been banking with sound, gold, jokes, eggs and laughter. From the worthless or ephemeral to the beautiful and the tasty, foreign investment brings things on the table, or in other words, the trademark is an action which takes place around a table. foreign investment has established a reputation for elaborate and uncompromising work. Some of foreign investmentâs rare appearances took place at events such as The Venice Biennale (2005, 1999), the fringe programme of the Istanbul Biennale (1997), Rio Trajectories (2001) and The London Biennale (2004, 2002, 2000). Commissions include: Cornerhouse, Manchester ('Breeding, Civilization and its Discontents', 2005), FACT Liverpool ('Sunday Matinee', 2005), Performance Research Magazine (Supermen (film) 2004), John Hansard Gallery, Southampton (Supermen, 2003), Gasworks Gallery London (Duty Free, 1999) and the Blue Coat Gallery in Liverpool ('tuning-in op.3', August 2006).
