Well this was our first official live jam in the online game/virtual world of Second Life. [www.secondlife.com] It took place on 4/14/10. SL location was darkstar island in the August West Ampitheatre. RL location was our rehearsal studio in NYC.
The lineup is me Greg Merritt, Pete Remm on keys, Jakubu Griffin on drums, and a friend of his Lavondo Thomas on bass. This was our first jam with Lavondo, and it worked out great. We'll be jamming with him again for sure. We jammed for about a half hour and ran over some stuff before we flipped the shoutcast switch.
First song 'OpenJam' is a pure improv. For some reason I gave the wrong shoutcast stream, so nobody heard this first jam. So kind of got me motivated to put together some audio online for people to hear...
Second is a Heavy Road standard funk jam called Out There. This was the first song everyone heard after we straightened out the shoutcast stream.
Next we did My Oh My, another live jam standard.
TV Tune is on the debut Heavy Road CD that is nearly completed.
At this point we took a quick break.
Then second set we started with a very slow version of Try This, which is really just another improvisation. It got cut off about halfway though. I decided to add a slight amount of chorus on this one to bring it more into the stereo field.
We recorded everything onto a CD. Just a 2 channel output from the PA board in the rehearsal room. I'm still trying to figure out how to record the input for the Shoutcast stream into my laptop so we get everything. But at least we have this.
After Try This I think we did something else, and then we closed with I Might Be Leaving another HR standard.
