Higher Caliber Than Usual
As "kareneliot" said, this is a better than usual, if low-key murder mystery-thriller. Charles Trowbridge makes a self-assured, steady District Attorney whose job is on the line. Robert Kent as his Assistant D.A. is a pleasant, earnest go-getter. He's engaged to Trowbridge's beautiful, but tough daughter, Anne Nagel. Best of all is Morgan Wallace as a smug, oily gangster, who is nicely underplayed as opposed to the usual hard-charging type. All the supporting good and bad guys are okay. The plot is a subtle variation on the typical "arrest the murderer" go get 'em type. The film is not great, but is a good "B" type film.
