George EugeniouSanctuary Challenge

Intercuts scenes from the play "The Appellants" by George Eugeniou, based on the case histories of Greek Cypriot refugees and proposing sanctuary as a means of avoiding deportation, with documentary footage of the case of Katerina and Vassilis Nicola. The couple, who had been living and working in London since 1976, sought sanctuary in St. Mary's Church, Camden in February 1985.

Made in Association with the Retake Video and Film Collective, originally screened by the UK's Channel 4 TV.
