A typical film of this era and the delight of the Sat Matinee for kids!
I loved these films when I was a boy in the mid 50's to early 60's. We were working class, living in a rough, gang-ridden, urban neighborhood. Minimum wages were less than $1/hr. No TV, but on Saturday we could go watch a newsreel, cartoons, and a film in a safe place. If our parents (usually both had to work to pay the mortgage, utilities, and put food on the table) could spare it get a buttered popcorn and a coke for a quarter. I lived only a mile away and we could easily walk there and back, on a large city street. We did the same for school. If the weather was bad, we could ride a bus for 10 cents. These Italian movies were all the rage, along with Rank and Hammer monster movies. Europe was still recovering from WWII and their films usually weren't all that wonderful, compared to the 80's and 90's, but often had better stories.
