The Obama Campaign in Sacramento hosted a rally on Feb. 2, 2008. At the event, Senator John Kerry, basketball great Kevin Johnson, State Senator Darrell Steinberg, Former State Senator Deborah Ortiz, City Councilmember Kevin McCarty, and Assemblymember Dave Jones rally supporters.
John Forbes Kerry is an American politician who is currently serving his fourth term as the junior United States Senator from Massachusetts. As the Presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, he was defeated in the 2004 presidential election by the Republican incumbent President George W. Bush. Senator Kerry is currently the Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
Kevin Maurice Johnson is a retired American basketball point guard who played for the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns. He has a BA in Political Science from University of California, Berkeley. Johnson is a 2000 graduate of the Harvard Divinity School Summer Leadership Institute, a program that prepares students for work in faith-based urban economic revitalization.
Darrell Steven Steinberg is a Democratic politician from Sacramento, California. He is currently serving his first term in the California State Senate. He is best known for his co-authoring of the 2004 California Ballot Proposition 63, which imposes a 1% tax on incomes of $1,000,000 or more for mental health funding.
Deborah V. Ortiz was a Democratic California State Senator. Prior to her election to the State Senate she served in the California State Assembly from 1996 to 1998.
Kevin McCarty has been a member of the Sacramento City Council since 2004.
Dave Jones, a Democrat, chairs the Assembly Judiciary Committee and serves on the Budget Committee, the Health Committee, the Utilities and Commerce Committee and the Agriculture Committee.

Now, director of Project Safe Haven, Gerry Condon travels throughout the U.S. and Canada to drum up support for a new generation of war resisters.
