On August 7-8, 2008 from 8 AM to 8 AM Halaka recorded 24 hours of continuous improvised music. The recording features all sorts of home made instruments, tape loops, tape bow violin, can guitar, wheel guitar, junk percussion, electric and acoustic guitar, bass guitar, drums, record players, samplers, banjo, toy drum kit, tape decks, samplers, and on and on. The recording is at times fantastic and at other times impenetrable. There are songs hidden in the many cracks, but you'd have to find them. It's meant to be an experience. It's suggested that the listener attempt to recreate the conditions that created the recording. Stay indoors, and listen for 24 hours continuously. It is also suggested that the listener use this "soundtrack" to inspire their own art which can also be shared on archive.org...
Lyrics were written before hand, collected in binders and handed out to the participants. All music, sounds, conversations, were improvised. There are no overdubs. This is the album as it was performed, good and bad, the mix was a quick one, and is not perfect. It is the band's hope to one day revisit the project and add to the recording, but for now this is it. Enjoy.
