Clarence AshleyClarence Ashley-Dark Holler (October 23, 1929)

Recorded on October 23, 1929 in Johnson City, Tennessee. This tune has become a bluegrass standard under this name, as well as "Dark Holler Blues" and "East Virginia Blues." It shares the same melody as "Greenback Dollar," and performers often mix the lyrics of the two in ever differing versions.

Subject: hear Buell Kazee too
Yes, Sir indeed. The tune and almost all the words are the same as Buell Kazee's equally fine version, but I confess I don't know if either of these gentlemen copied the other or whether there's some other source basic to both.

Subject: Yes Sir!
I almost went by this one because no one had given it the great review it deserves so here is five stars!
