and best if viewed with the whole family that actually lived the santiago de los cuarentas, imagine listening old "radio mineria" going to the barrio after of course passing by el diario la nacion and hearing the latest war development explained to you in a blackboard right by the plaza de la constitucion in front of la moneda presidential palace. yes my mother lived that chile,. the chile of the 1950's teens and beggining of the coca cola years and cha cha cha. of course after work riding in old "Matadero Palma" to el Barrio Vivaceta. all those house developments were made thinking in the family that was about to became there. university professionals, doctors etc, came out of those developments. those were 100 sq meters homes in a 400 sq mts yard. Housing solutions nowadays are a crowded 36 sq meters apartments (the size of an american living room) with no yard at all. One last sad note: in mid 2003 el cine santa lucia was demolished in order to build there an apartment building. no one said anyting. a few ones like me cried a little. im 36 yrs old

Subject: How about some whine with that Chile? (sorry, couldn't resist)
An engaging short from the iffy people at the Office of inter-american affairs about the housing crises in Chile. The short focuses on a man, who has a job as a barber trying to get better housing conditions for his family. He signs up for government housing, and voila! he gets it! Soon, parties are arranged (featuring sour lookinh childtrn) trips to the pool are taken, picnics are gone on... An obvious stab at how wonderful life would be if we had a better house. Apparently poor housing devoids you of any picnicking benefits.
