Bruce BortinHow to Repulse Monkey (2004)

Would you like to try our new video/audio player ? (beta!)

I used to participate in the three-times-a-week free Tai Chi program in Chinatown. Everybody else there was Chinese, and the class was conducted in Chinese, and I don't speak Chinese, so I didn't know what was being said. Luckily, all I really had to do was to watch what Mr Wong did, and try to do that.

It was hard for me to remember what abstract move came after the posture that I was currently in. Naming things would help. I got a commercial video disk in Chinatown that showed a Tai-Chi master doing the 24-Step Program and added my own subtitles, as a learning tool.

Subject: Good instructional vid, poor choice for subtitles
First off, not sure if any copyrights were violated somewhere but assuming none was...
Actually this version of the Taiqi/Tai Chi short form looked like it was performed by a relatively competent instructor. You can possibly learn at least how to move your body not necessarily how to actually do Taiqi. It's a good refresher for prior students.
Unfortunately, the subtitles are done in a 'bamboo' lettering that is offensive to Asian eyes and making
fun of someone else's movements publicly is also considered in poor taste. Tsk, Tsk.
