In part two of this compelling series on Water Aid America, Patricia Dandonoli takes us inside the lives of women and girls worldwide and their plight to find clean water and sanitation, and gives us an inside look on how other women, working with Water Aid are directly and indirectly coming to their rescue. During this month of Women’s history, an emphasis is put on poor women and their struggles in underdeveloped nations, juxtaposed against women in developing countries, who, with a strong sense of social justice are able to help them.
Water Aid has put efforts into creating partnerships and alliances with women’s groups and woman focused organizations to raise awareness of water related poverty as a women’s issue, since in many parts of the world it is women and girls who have the sole responsibility of collecting and managing their families water supplies, hence making them unavailable to work, go to school or advance their lives. Water Aid hopes to alleviate the suffering of women in underdeveloped countries due to water related poverty.
