J.R. LAFONTAINE does not discount the possibility that her homosexuality might be hereditary - after all she bears a strong resemblance to her homosexual mother in features, mannerisms and lifestyle.

In this hour, part-time New York City radio personality JR LaFontaine sits down with Angela McKenzie to share her life journey as part of the homosexual population. From self awareness to coming out to family and friends, to the joys and sorrows she experiences on a day-to-day basis being gay in a predominantly straight world.

Today's program seeks to inspire persons young and old who are still concealing their homosexual identity to embrace the freedom that comes with self-acceptance and living openly, as well as to encourage heterosexual people to fearlessly embrace family members, friends and neighbors who are homosexual.

As an added bonus Angela gives listeners an historical synopsis of openly gay, black American Bayard Rustin. Rustin was the public relations wizard behind Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's civil rights campaigns but in spite of his tremendous talent and contributions to changing the face of American society, he was physically abused and marginalised mostly because of his homosexuality. To date, Rustin remains an unsung hero of America's civil rights and gay rights movements.
