Lovely movie but
I love this movie... but as another person pointed out, there are some things that have been cut. One of the most notable is when a nurse is required to help a doctor and drops a little girl off with a man. First she's dropping her off and it cuts hard to the nurse taking the girl back and the girl waves goodbye to the man. Ugh...frustrating.
But at least this is here and it exists. :)

What he said
I really don't know if I was incredibly bored, felt I deserved some sort of punishment, or perhaps just couldn't bring myself to believe the previous review. And yes, I do have a very high threshold for pain.
The movie wasn't completely awful mind you, it was only pretty awful.
I give the film two stars because I feel sorry for it.

Wish It Was Good...
What starts off as a good poverty row b-lister crime/murder mystery swiftly turns into a mish-mash of:
A reallly bad script; horrible, disjointed cuts that leave out part of the plot lines; sub-plots which include a little girl, a canceled prize fight, the reporter' mom, a romantic involvement, etc., which detract from what could have been a really tight, and good crime/murder mystery !
The cast of Chester Morris, Douglas Fowley, Dick Purcell, Jean Parker, and, Edward Norris would certainly have been capable of pulling this film off if the script & plot would have stayed on-course.
Sorry, watch this only if you have a very high thershold for pain...after the first 10 minutes, you'll wonder what you're watching !
