How economic progress comes from the accumulation of privately owned tools of production; demonstrates the need for tools by showing a young couple with their infant child in a wilderness with nothing but natural resources and their hands.
Presents the vital role of political freedom in the economic progress which comes from the accumulation of privately owned tools of production. Demonstrates the need for tools by showing a young couple with their infant child in a wilderness with nothing but natural resources and their hands.
Ken Smith sez: Young marrieds Tom and Mary are whisked back in time to the Stone Age, where they suffer deservedly because they don't have any machine tools (note who sponsored this film). The usual harangue against Big Government by Big Industry; much praise for rugged individualists; God is invoked at several points. Another "America is the richest nation on earth because of free enterprise" film.

Yikes! The Very Thought of Getting My Hands Dirty!
Not me. I'm gonna spend 40K on college and work in a cubicle collating checklists for lawyers and the IRS to use. One day I'll be a GS-7 by God! Let China worry about making things and stuff. We'll just outlaw all that dirty nonsense here. Who needs it? We just print money. Way easier.
Shows a Euro white couple after Islam completes its conquest of the developed world. I guess they are in hiding because she lost her burka. Scary, isn't it?
This short will bewilder many, I presume.

Huh?
Weird little film---one of a series produced by Borg Warner and Inland Steel at the dawn of the McCarthy era---purporting to tell us why we Americans are so great! Why, we have 50% of the world's productive capacity! I'm sure the fact that, in 1950, the rest of the industrialized world was just starting to rebuild after the war
had nothing to do with it! There's a strange interlude showing how tough life would be without
farms, factories and housing (duh!) which is disconnected from the apparent point of the film.
The star, by the way, is the guy who later played Sky King---"Out of the clear blue of the western sky!" Somehow, that seems appropriate. The level of analysis of this film seems pitched at a fifth grade level, if that. And, based on a couple of posted "reviews" there is today a ready
audience for this sort of drival. Which probably explains the popularity of Sarah Palin and Fox News.

Excellent critique of the collectivist argument
Actually a fairly accurate description of American exceptionalism, and the tricky methodologies used by Marxist regimes both to gain power and to consolidate their authority once in power. The third film is especially well though out, as it apparently uses the historical experience of Ukranian kulaks and the like to describe how a Marxist regime operates in practice - I'm sure plenty of Venezuelan employees of Prevenza, or disenfranchised industrial farmers from Rhodesia, would find plenty to recognise from the narrative. The commentary about a plebiscite to throw out the national constitution is especially perspicacious, if one considers the situation in Honduras at present.
Al in all an excellent critique of the Marxian ideological mythology, which has already been long since debunked within the modern science-based economist community. Indeed - amazing that what this film describes, known to be so obviously true in our age, was so controversial when the film was created.

Obama's Dream Come True
Being a film produced in 1950, just before the Cold War and the Kefauver hearings on Communism, it sets the stage of what will come of the U.S. GUVMINT as we know it. The Communist (and Mob) philosophy of Labor Unions continues today to collect "protection" money from the workers for negotiating a contract. The politicians have signed on, and the result is a huge loss of jobs to Mexico and China through NAFTA and Bill Klinton. And then the majority of sheeple can't read or write because of the wonderful GUVMINT financed public schools, which furthers their laziness to learn something new. Obama's plan for 600,000 new non-productive bureaucratic Chicago style "pay to play" GUVMINT jobs will break the bank.

Compliments an honest history book
I'd definatly suggest reading up on your history before watching this. Perhaps read Howard Zinn's: A People's History of the U.S., or if you are lazy and don't read like most Americans (they way they like us), then I would highly suggest watching the PBS mini-series:
Race - The power of an Illusion...
at least the second video, it will give you a crash course on accurate American history and objectives.
Finally come back to this video and you will see a nightmare rather than just mere history.
A far cry from the teachings of Jesus if anything.

Run, commie, run!
You can always tell when you've hit a commie nerve--all you get is spittin', swearin', and Stalin-speak spoutin'. If you don't like capitalism, please move to your favorite communist state and starve to death, like most populaces of communist nations eventually do.
For the rest of you who can see the forest for the trees, this series is a great one to call your neighbors over to watch while eating some good ol', butter-smothered, capitalist-produced popcorn.

How we lie about what we got
A twisted 20 minute attempt to explain that the Industrial Revolution was due to the rights outlined in the Declaration of Independence. The proof: post World War 2 statistics about the industrial power of the United States (never mind that the US, the UK, the USSR, Germany, and Japan bombed the hell out of the rest of the industrialized world). Dramatized section a third of the way through throws a modern family into a world without civilization and bears no logical connection to the rest, and for that alone it's worth a view.

We Got what We Have From Being Americans! (snicker)
A truly bizarre mindfuck of a short. This odd little ditty crams so much information into it's 20 minute time frame that your head starts to hurt. At first it's a finger point at all the bad men in their communist countries, like Hitler, Mao, Mussolini, you know those guys. From there, the film seems to take a 180 degree turn and goes 'Survivor' on us by taking a husband and wife and baby and taking away everything they take for granted, housing, food, clothing and we get to watch them duke it out for themselves. Very bizarre. The film goes back to 'normal' and we see What Makes America So Great. Here we see how America invented everything possible (Or did it better, not like those savage indians!). This is my fave of the 'In Our Hands' series.
