Subject: Interview with Roger Bell
Good interview. What resonnates are the folowing - when chosing an executive for an overseas assignment they must have worked in other countires, must have strong family support and be mature enough to take time to observe before acting. Respect for people is key regardless of your location. Treat people the way they want to be treated. Mr Bell's responses were even and balanced. I am very happy especially that he acknowledges the security risks on both islands! This brings me back to a discussion that I was having recently - while culture does affect, the individuals' management style is the key thing. I have seen similar management traits in a Puerto Rican executive I worked with in Jamaica, as well as the better GMs/CEOs I have worked with here.
