Jack Benny Show
"The Jack Benny Show" was originally a radio program on NBC of the same title but made its television debut in 1949, with producers Hilliard Marks. It started out on the local Los Angeles KTTV station, but quickly made a nationwide premier on CBS in 1950. with episodes that lasted 25 minutes, it continued its run until 1964, and then transferred to NBC. It ran for one more year before Jack Benny made the conscious choice to end the show after a 16 year run even with good ratings.
The Jack Benny Show is a comedy that followed Jack Benny as he lives his life based on the show he also produces with his friends with no fourth wall in front of a studio audience. Other characters that played themselves include Eddie Anderson, Don Wilson, and Dennis Day, who actually got his own short run spin off series after the Jack Benny Show ended. The episode "Jack's Boat Trip From Hawaii" begins with how Jack Benny ended up in Hawaii, a stand up bit about his doctor who is all a travel agent. The audience then watched his trip to Hawaii, and his boat ride home where he even saw a couple of his friends, like Dennis. He then goes into a dream where he meets the famous Jayne Mansfield.
