Synopsis:
The concept of this album swelled up within my subconscious as a need to express that which inhabits the collective consciousness of our race quite prominently: the vampire archetype and what it means both as a supernatural, mythical embodiment, and as a modern day depiction, fascination, and ultimately adoption as a way of life (for some).
It begins with a story, told in the first person, of a boy driven to an early grave and then reincarnated as a vampire. This part of the album is a fantasy tale yet draws on real-life experiences and emotions. Towards the end of the album, after "Interview", the scope of the theme broadens and I begin talking more loosely about the presence of the vampire concept in today's society, starting with my own thoughts and feelings on the matter in "Dreams", then indulging in some cheekiness in "From Edward Cullen To Twilight Girl", and concluding with the hopefully inspiring piece "Lift The Black Veil", that deals with and is intended for "modern day vampires" (The Black Veil is a code that modern day vampires live by, I'm lifting it to see what's underneath).
More Rumination:
More and more it seems we're seeing people who outwardly claim that they are vampires in more than name. They feed on either psychic energy or actual blood from a willing donor, if they don't they will get sick.
I used to think I was a vampire myself, I believe in energy transfers and the ability of some to absorb psychic energy from others and I understand the thirst for blood, yet I don't believe it's a need. It's a want, but you can become dependent on it just like cigarettes or alcohol.
You shouldn't label yourself just to try and fit into some kind of box. In the end, we're all just individuals. If you have the ability to absorb energy from others, that's great, but think about whether it's a want or a need. Lift The Black Veil.

About track 11: Edward Cullen is the vampire spunk that the girl falls in love with in the book/movie Twilight, who has captivated the attention of many drooling teenage girls across the globe.
About the "Interview": 20 minutes of interview time with 4 different people done as a school assignment, boiled down to just over a minute of interesting snippets that paint a pretty intriguing picture.
