Poetry by Lysandros Pitharas, in a unique performance set to music by Andy, performed at the Hampstead Theatre during the Camden Cypriot Festival 1991.
Lysandros was one of the most active proponents of the Festival and was a founder member of the Cypriot Arts Forum. His death the following year was a tragedy for us all.
His poetry was also featured during an evening of poetry at Apples and Snakes, also held within the context of the Camden Cypriot Festival 1991 (a link to that video archive is provided below)
---------------------
Lysandros had, a few years earlier, made a documentary with the UK's Channel 4,"Rembetika - The Music of the Outsiders".
There is a tribute page to Lysandros, visible on the web at: http://aspects.no-ip.org/wholey_passions/Lysandros/Lysandros_poetry.htm
In that one of the poems within this performance was dedicated by Lysandros to the memory of stylist Ray Petrie, it seemed appropriate to place here some links to note how Petri is remembered on the web:
Video archives from other events staged during the two week Camden Cypriot Festival in 1991 are in process of being uploaded during 2009 to mark the current political initiative begun by President Demetris Christofias, President of Cyprus, to seek a "Cyprus Solution by Cypriots for Cypriots".
