This course will thoroughly educate the successful student with the knowledge and skills necessary to be a certified beginning SCUBA diver. The prerequisite for the course is passing the MIT SCUBA swim test and demonstrating a "comfort level" in the water. At the end of the class, students will attempt to pass the certification exam to become certified divers. The class is taught in two parts each week: a classroom session and a pool session. The classroom sessions along with the reading material will provide the student with the knowledge necessary to pass the written exam. At the pool, the water skills are taught in progressions that build on the previous skills, making the difficult skills seem easy.

Subject: Observation
Subject: Observation
I would like to see the subject re-demonstrate the skills at "Divemaster" or "Instructor" level quality. ALL of the skills I observed were too fast, and captured too far from the demonstrator to clearly see the critical attributes of the skill(s). The purpose of the demonstration is to give the observer a clear example of the skill.
NONE of the videos are "demonstration" quality. But rather, entry level average completion quality. For instance, the giant stride demo...hose hanging to the side on the left...the "diver" is supposed to collect and secure the hoses as part of the task. Securing the hoses ensures they won't get snagged during the stride. As well as protecting the gear from damage.
Mask clearing...TOO FAST and not very descriptive on how to accomplish the task...look down, then tilt your head back while exhaling? needs to be slower, and the camera 'closer' so as to capture the critical attributes of clearing the mask.
All in all, none of the demo's are executed at "Divemaster" or "Instructor" level quality.
The above comments ARE transparent ONLY in an effort to call out the difference between demonstration quality and average completion quality.
Regards,
Z
