This was my first Langerado after moving from NW PA to SW FL, my second MMJ show (caught them at the 'roo in '04). The band split my stoned-out skull each time. Why? Because they rock balls, that's the reason. Now let me point out that I'm a 42 year-old Deadhead with a lot of tour miles under my belt and I've been a jam fest junkie going back to the H.O.R.D.E./Further Fest days. These guys gives me the same feeling I get from listening to bands like Tea Leaf Green, Drive-by Truckers, Tishamingo, Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, etc.: Alive and stoked. No one's telling you you have to like MMJ. But realize that your opinion is just that - your opinion. To the ballcap-wearing, water bottle-throwing, keg-tapping, "show-us-your-t**'s" fratboy meathead Coachella/Ozzfest crowd, MMJ is "hippie rock", nothing more or less. Trust me, I have acquaintances in the camp I just described and they view the band as a bunch of pot-smoking hairbags with a whiny lead singer. Just because they're a loud rock band doesn't mean they should be opening for Motley Crue. Use your brain.

MMJ is pure, organic, old-school, south-of-the-Mason-Dixon Line rock 'n roll. They leave crowds energized, but not violent or destructive, ala Woodstock '99 (I attended '99 as well as '94 - guess which one I'll more readily admit to being at?) MMJ is always welcome among the jam fest curcuit for those reasons. There's no law that says you have to be present during their sets. Go dig the bands that get you off and write (good or bad) about them on Archive when their shows pop up. That's the way this is supposed to work! Why rant here about a group that you obviously wouldn't listen to or go see anyway? Write a complaint to the Langerado promoters if you feel that strongly about it.

My first time seeing the band, and they were awesome--just rock yer face f'n awesome.

For our long-winded and self-proclaimed nostradamus friend: first of all, you may not dig MMJ, but everyone at the main stage that night was getting their face ripped off and rocked harder than anything at that festival. Second, I'm as big a "jamband" fluffer/patron as there is, and I absolutely love MMJ ... so don't make broad generalizations about MMJ not fitting at a "jamband" festival. Third, I honestly can't believe you had the audacity to compare Altamount, where people were KILLED by Hell's Angels "security," to a band like MMJ performing in front of a bunch of spring breakers in south Florida in March ... effing ponderous. Lastly, as far as future violent confrontations of fans are concerned, I'm not sure I'd throw MMJ into the mix. Perhaps if the headlining act had been Slayer or Slipknot you may have had a point, but there's nothing the least bit violent about rock n' roll MMJ style.

Enjoy your bisco, brah. Read the BOOK!

Well thank god you have nothing better to do with your time than hate. Someone might have taken the time to open their mind and form their own opinion of this show. I know I don't want to listen to any band that isn't a carbon copy of Phish. What a DiCK. This is a great live Rock and Roll band. No other labels are neccesary. The sound is pretty good on this show too.
