Kazoo Books is an independent bookstore offering a wide selection of quality used books, select new titles, and book ordering services. Kazoo Books has been serving the greater Kalamazoo area since 1988. In 2003, Kazoo Books opened up a second location on Parkview in the Oakwood neighborhood.
Both stores try to maintain a 98% ratio of used to new inventory. We want to keep the image of having used books in the best condition at the best price.
We can order new books through distributors as well as directly from the publisher. We can usually offer a discount on new books as our way of saying, "Thanks for choosing Kazoo Books." Our turn around time is usually a week or less.
Right now we have 70,000 books at the Clarendon store and 20,000 at our Parkview location. (We affectionately refer to them as K-1 and K-2.)
Our inventory comes from you, our customers, in the form of âtrade-ins.â Some stock comes in bulk from estates or new stock from distributors. Our employees all pitch in to sort, price and clean everything before it goes on the shelf. A big part of the day is spent insuring the books are in good condition before putting them on the shelf. What we accept as a âtrade-inâ changes in relation to the storeâs needs and available space.
At both locations youâll find many books signed by the author. Mystery, fantasy, history, artâwe have signed books on just about any subject. We make an effort to carry signed books by local authors and recent visiting authors. Signed books make great gifts.
We carry some collectable old and rare stock. Many books are out-of-print, but you can find them on our shelves. Our online inventory can be search through our website.
Our internet business ships worldwide, yet only 15% of our books are online. We can often offer discount prices for our walk-in customers who want any of the internet stock.
