a hawk in the heavensmam018 - a hawk in the heavens - the glow and the approach (2008)

Matt Lawson and Chris Dawson are North Carolina's a hawk in the heavens, a two piece post-rock ensemble packing the skills of a band with twice the members. Their classic post-rock pieces bring sounds that will pleasantly hit the ears of an Explosions fan, but not in a repetitive manner. Their sound is both familiar and fresh all at once. The sparse vocals are somewhat reminiscent of the late Aereogramme.

Please check these guys out with their first release with mam!records, mam018.

Subject: Great music
A Hawk In The Heavens, from my home state of NC by the way, brings us a single twelve minute track combining two works. AHITH fits the post rock / shoegaze genre, with a dreamlike melodic overture that leads us to an equally languid, droning piece that can put you in a trance if you’re not careful.
