Mary Stafford sang blues primarily in the club circuit, but she also cut a dozen sides for Columbia in 1921 (she was the first black woman to record for Columbia). The full title of this piece is "I'm Gonna Jazz My Way Right Straight Through Paradise". It was recorded on March 7, 1921. The label credits "Mary Stafford and Her Jazz Band", but some sources I've seen credit Charlie Johnson's Orchestra with the accompaniment.

Subject: Perfect rhythm
There are so many parts hovering around in the background that the musical pastiche gets a little washed out, but somehow this adds to the appeal for me. Every now and then, a trumpet or a violin comes riding above the maelstrom of instruments in the lower registers. And her voice is very rich, very earthy.
