Speed run of the demo disk version of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, which was available for free (by registering games at nintendo's website) in the months before the release of the game. The demo starts with more items than you do in the game, such as light & dark beam, and contains many rooms from the game but in different orders. The demo ends after a brief trip to the dark world, with a fight that is for a Dark Temple Key in the full game. The time of 5 minutes and 12 seconds is from the start of control to the end.
Author's comments:
Well, I decided to see how quickly I could go through the demo of Metroid Prime 2 using what I knew about enemy weaknesses and so on. Two Dark Beam shots kill a Pirate, and a fully charged Dark Beam shot plus a Missile kill the Pirate Turrets. Fully charged Light Beam shots also kill the Turrets instantly, but I decided it would be better to conserve my Light Beam ammo for the Ing fight. I use the shortcut discovered by Andrew Mills in the room with the portal to Dark Aether. I reset until I got a run where everything went right up to the Ing, and then I killed both Ing without interruption (i.e. the Ing I'm firing on wasn't allowed to go underground). I'm not sure how I could significantly improve the run, unless there is a really good Dash Jump I missed or something.

I dunno what crawled up silent_echo's ass and died. This may not be as exciting as a full-game run, but it's still cool.

LMFAO! That speedrun is so slow, so ugly, so horrible to watch. Don't watch this crap or you'll lose your time!
