"Miller Overthrown, or The False Prophet Confounded" by a Cosmopolite (1840). Text version of a classic book by an anonymous writer replying to William Miller, who was predicting the return of Christ in 1843/1844. Miller's followers were known as Adventists and after the 1844 disappointment separated into various groups. From these arose, among others, the Seventh Day Adventists, Second Adventists, Advent Christian Church, the Bible Students and Jehovah's Witnesses.
