Subject: The Truth Hurts!!!!!
I thought this area was for reviews, not how great and charitable what the guys were doing is! The musicianship of the harp players (other than Nate) leaves a lot to be desired, so I merely left a review to let others know that other than Nate's songs, the rest of the show is a waste of time. (Next time let Howlin' Blue play a little more.)

I never said that "my heroes" would come down to play, even though many of them, including Jason Ricci, Mikey Jr., and Dennis Gruenling, have done many charities like Harpin' Help in Jersey. I was simply trying to show that Ronnie Ray's statement that the audience was in the presence of the "some of the greatest harp players on the east coast" was as untrue as it was pompous.

I don't know Nate, but he would probably "knock you upside the head" for labeling Jason Ricci a shredder. I'm pretty sure Nate's a big fan, and he probably knows that Jason can play old school blues with the best of them. He's just taking the blues forward into the 21st century, which is the opposite of Guy, Ronnie, and company, who are taking it back to the Cro-Magnon days. By the way, Nate can shred pretty good himself, too. I digress. . . . .

"Did you get these guys because you want to look better than you already are?"

Did you ask that question just to announce what an asshat you are? The truth is, he got those guys because they were kind enough to drive out there and play for free with a band they'd never met. All your hero's you mention would not have done so. You slam these guys like your somebody, but if you knew anything you'd know Steve Guyger would probably knock you upside the head for putting a shredder like Ricci in with that list. And do you even know Guy Stasik or these other dudes? I know Guy and I know he has never put himself out there as some harp aficionado since he plays accompaniment in his regular band. He is one of the most respected vocalists/performers in the region and I thought it was killer of him to go all the way out there and do that. James Day is a relative new comer to the scene but he's not awful, he just needs more stage time.

Regardless of this previous review, these guys were solid players and speaking as one of the many that attended, it was a fun night. We all had a great time and will be there again, no matter who Nate brings along.

Nate you're a great harp player. Sorry I can't say the same about the rest of these guys. If you want people in your area to take the harp seriously, you've got to get some higher caliber players. Did you get these guys because you want to look better than you already are? You might be able to get Mikey Junior next year. You should try.
Guy Stasik is the only one who was half way decent, and he's not very good. James Day had great tone on the low end, but he is awful!!!!!! I saw that he was teaching at a Gindick Jam Camp. If I went to that and heard him play, I would want my money back! My dog can howl better blues than that dude can play, and more in tune too.
It made me laugh when Ronnie Ray said the audience was hearing the best harp players on the east coast. I guess he forgot about Dennis Gruenling, Steve Guyger, Phil Wiggins, Roger Edsall, Jason Ricci, Pat Ramsey, Wade Shuman, Randy Weinstein, etc.
Like I said, Nate rocks, the other guys are hacks!
Oh yeah, that Howlin' Blue dude sounded pretty good, but he only played on two songs.
