A seminar was held on March 10-11, 2012, at Mangalore on scripts and languages of modern India, with special reference to Konkani. It was organised by the Jagotik Konknni Songhotton, and organised at the Kalaangan, Mangalore. Excerpts from the event.
Among the recordings are speeches of chairperson Prof Valerian Rodrigues; Paper I by Dr Anvita Abbi (Script and Language: Relationship and Contentions); Tulsi (a play based on the story by Jnanpeeth award winner late Ravindra Kelekar, presented by the Kalaakul Theatre Repertory); Paper II by Dr Alok Rai (Language, Script and Dominance in India); Paper III by Dr Asha Sarangi (Language and Territory: Issues of Rights and Identities); Paper IV by Dr Madhavi Sardesai (The Case for a Single Script for Konkani); Paper V by Dr Pratap Naik (The Case for Multi-Scripts for Konkani), and a summation from the steering committee.
