One man's comments
My wife and I watched this Studio One presentation of "The Nativity" today. It was a bit different from what I expected, but it was enjoyable. The production is almost Shakespearean in tone with the occasional archaic word (I think I heard "hie," as in "go quickly" three times.) and much of the script in rhyme. In fact, a paragraph in the opening credits mentioned that the play was done in the manner of 14th and 15th century plays.
The technical quality of my download (burned to DVD) was fine, with no serious problems in video or audio. Some segments were a bit dark, but that darkness appeared to be part of the original production.
One nice feature of the program was that, in consideration of the subject matter, the story was not interrupted by commercials. Betty Furness (the traditional spokeswoman for sponsor Westinghouse) came on at the beginning for a commercial about the company's televisions, then returned at the end with commercials for a clothes dryer and a portable radio.
