This is my first (and currently only) studio recording. The song is written in open D tuning (DADF#AD), and sounds vaguely Goo Goo Dolls-like. It features me on acoustic guitar and vocals, Camille Olivier on drums and Andrew Angelin on bass guitar. The two of them later went on to play with ThePRIME. Our music teacher, Mr. Nuzzo, was nice enough to let us use his studio for free.
I did a music video once for it in high school, which I brought in a dance choreographer from another school for (Laura Duelfer), and got some other students to dance in. Sadly, in a fit of stupidity that I will regret forever, I lost the tape, before I could edit it down or show it to anyone. Fortunately, projects like the Internet Archive can help me avoid such a fate for my work in the future.
I've been longing for a show of affection
an honest smile
a crack in the wall
but you've given me nothing
to warm my soul with
I cannot take your kindness anymore
Now you say you love me it's too late
I've risen to another state
I want someone I can relate to
I only irritate you
You only suffocate me
I guess it's time you set me free
I remember how we used to be together
but now it's gone
there's just nothing to say
I dreamed about you
kept your picture near me
long after you cut me off
and pushed me away
Go!
[instrumental]
I don't know why I let you abuse me
or why I kept crawling back for more
but it's over now
I'm finally leaving
I'm not quite sure what I hung around for
Now you cannot tie me to your side
this hunger won't be pacified
I need someone I can relate to
I only irritate you
You only suffocate me
I guess it's time you set me
Say you love me
it's too late
I've risen to another state
I want someone I can relate to
I only irritate you
You only suffocate me
I guess it's time you set me free...
