This is footage of the O-I-L,(One-In-Love),street party in London from 2005. It is an anual street party that happens in Piccadilly Circus around the statue of Eros. The event was started as a way of highlighting how "Love" our most valuable resource, is in danger of being privitised. We seem to be selling the expressions of our loving feelings to card makers such as Hallmark, or human rights abusers such as the diamond industry, or teddy bear makers, who employ small children in sweat shops to make teddy bears with "I LOVE YOU" sewn onto them. This event happens on the nearest Saturday to Valentines Day. Valentines day is usualy a time when we buy things to prove to someone that we love them. "Of course I love you, I bought you flowers, didn't I." Its a really fun day when all ages, shapes and colours of people stop shopping and come together on the streets to dance and have fun.
