Old Time Radio Researchers GroupMagic Island - Single Episodes

MAGIC ISLAND

Magic Island was a syndicated serial that first aired sometime in 1936 and consisted of one hundred thirty 12-minute episodes. The storyline dealt with a wealthy woman and her search for her long lost daughter. She finds her on a man-made island that can submerge to avoid detection. The series was targeted for a juvenile audience and small children are the main focus of the story line.

What would you do if your child was lost? How long would you search in order to have your child back in your arms one more time? Magic Island tells the story of a mother, Mrs. Patricia Gregory, and her search for her lost daughter, Joan Gregory. Her daughter has been lost for 14 years due to a shipwreck, in the South Seas.

Everyone on the ship, including Mrs. Gregory's husband and little one-year old, were believed lost--all except Mrs. Gregory. Fourteen years after her rescue, Mrs. Gregory still has not given up hope.

With the help of a very handsome reward, and the persistence of Jerry, a young man who has been very interested in Mrs. Gregory's story "ever since [Jerry] could read," she sets off on an adventure to find her daughter!

In reality, Joan has survived by living on a man-made, "magic" Island that is so secretive, that it can submerge under the water in order to evade exposure. This serial radio show follows the story of the reunion of daughter and mother and the adventures that come there after.

Subject: I love this show!
After listening to the first 4 or 5 episdoes, this show seemed to simplistic and kinda boring to me. But as the story progressed on the island the show really started to grow on me. The show can be enjoyable by children and grown-ups alike. There is alot of interesting scientific and and amazing contraptions. And the show has a lot of exciting situations. I really like the Sub commander Elaine character alot. But I prefer her Euclidian voice. haha
I've listened to to tons of OTR shows over the past few years and this show is now one of my all time favorites. I only have 17 episodes left before I'm doing listening to the series for the first time. I can't wait to start back over and listen to the whole thing again!
