Cream and sugar, sir?
An eccentric millionaire's unread will and a mansion full of contentious heirs. What better time for a life insurance salesman to show up, especially if he's played by Alex "Tin Man" Haley. Toss in a wandering corpse and butler Bela Lugosi constantly trying to serve everybody rat-poison-laced coffee, and you have the fixins for a comic whodunit in the old dark house mold. All we need is a thunderstorm. Aha! There it is now! Jean Parker is the damsel in peril. The ubiquitous Lyle Talbot is on hand in a supporting role. This one is fun.
CAST NOTE: Either as a leading man or character actor, Lyle Talbot appeared in more than 400 productions, including "Plan 9 From Outer Space" and "Glen or Glenda" Needless to say he shows up aplenty here at the Archive.

SAD, INDEED...
I saw this once, many years ago, so I thought I'd see if my initial opinion was right. It was.
What a waste of talent in a script that might have worked if it was about 15 minutes shorter ! It takes w-a-y too long to "get to the punchline"...and gets so repetitious it's boring.
Comedies are supposed to be funny...this one -especially for the caliber of the B-players involved - is embarrassing.
It's sad to see another member of the classic "Wizard of Oz", Jack Haley, as well as the iconic Bela Lugosi, doing these types of films probably just to "pay the rent", or, fulfill a contract.
Watch it if you want, but as you do, remember: With a tighter script, better direction, and with 15 minutes shaved off...it COULD have been a passably funny, movie that you would have really enjoyed.
