Fiddles, sax, banjo, accordion, Decca 12000. The personnel are: Paddy Killoran/Paddy Sweeny - fiddles, Jack Healy - flute/sax, Eileen O'Shea - piano, James Ryan - banjo, William McElligott - accordion. Coleman recorded both of these jigs; the first one gives its title to the medley, the second he called Coleman's Cross, which is also a name for a reel.

"Coleman's Cross"
Fabulous recording. Thanks so much for putting it on the Archive site. Michael Coleman did record the second jig, but he left it untitled on a 1934 disc he cut with tenor guitarist Whitey Andrews. The label just had the set as "Tobin's Fancy," but it actually included "The Wandering Minstrel," "Fasten the Leg in Her" and the second jig that Killoran's orchestra plays on this disc. The Bothy Band used the title "Coleman's Cross" when they recorded it. An unrelated reel now bears the same name.

Hi!
Hi Deirdre,
Great to hear you enjoyed the recording - there's also a recording of your Da playing with Paddy Sweeney here, if you haven't found it. Such marvelous musicians!

Bill McElligott, accordion
I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to find this website. Bill McElligott was my father, died in 1973. We have none of his recordings. I knew Jack McKenna, Jimmy McGinn, and of course, Jack Healy. I now have grandchildren of my own and I can actually play my Dad's recordings for them. Thank you so much for preserving this lost piece of my childhood, of my family.
