Peter GodfreyPlease Murder Me (1956)

How's that for a title? Lawyer Raymond Burr (seeming very much like Perry Mason) brilliantly defends Angela Lansbury, who seems certain to be found guilty of murdering her husband, who was Burr's best friend! Instead of spoiling it for you, I'll just say that a couple of surprises lie ahead for him. It's a wonder this film was allowed to become p.d. Don't miss it.

Also appearing are John Dehner, Lamont Johnson, and Denver Pyle.

Subject: I liked this one
This was one of the better ones. One that wasn't trying too hard to be "noir". The story was interesting thoughout.

Subject: First Rate, Minus
This film is First Rate; but it seems to have been treated as something less, because it was not very well preserved, yet close enough to make the grade of an excellent half of a Friday night matinee at home, alone with Tabby Cat Mieux. You should not regret spending your hour with PMM -- and seeing that it's where Raymond Burr finally found his forte, the experience is well worth it indeed. Not going to say a word more!

Raymond Burr plays a very Perry Mason character in this unremarkable melodrama. I watched through to the end just to see how the twist in the plot worked out. I wasn't surprised.

I downloaded the MPEG1 file. The video track is fine, though there are many missing frames. The audio track varies, but is of poor quality overall.

Nice little film. I understand this film started
Raymond Burr's career on televison in "PerryMason".

Great movie, not as good as D.O.A. but on the same noir. A little long that's why I give it 4 stars.
