portia
This soap was unique for 2 reasons. 1:it did not have the typical awful organ score. 2: portia is a sucessful lawyer, not a stay-at-home busybody. Women of the time were put off by her strength and ambition and probably secretly jealous of her, therefor the show was unsucessful.

Theme song is the only noteworthy item
Portia Faces Life was a soap opera which aired on the CBS television network. The theme song is the only really noteworthy thing about this plodding soap opera.
"Portia Faces Life Theme" for television replaced the typical soap opera organ score with one supplied by Tony Mottola and his jazz combo. Mottola during his career backed singers like Pearl Bailey and Frank Sinatra. His working relationship with Sinatra continued until the guitarist's retirement in 1988. Mottola also played with Doc Severinsen's Orchestra on NBC's The Tonight Show. Tony Mottola died August 9, 2004.

4/5 for Rarity
Not a great soap opera by any means, but an interesting curio. For one thing, while most soap operas of the time featured organ music, this features somebody strumming a guitar. Also interesting are the classic commercials contained in the kinescope, which feature limited but stylish animation. Although nobody will mistake this as a classic for the ages, it's still worth watching as an example of a one-season wonder of the 50's, and at 15 minutes it doesn't take up too much time. Oh yeah, and this series was done live like most other soap operas of the time..I did NOT upload this broadcast, and my review is 100% sincere.
