The School for Correctional Ministries (SCM) exists to equip professionals and volunteers who serve in jails, prisons, and reentry for effective ministry through the church. Under the umbrella of SCM, the Institute for Prison Ministries in partnership with the American Chaplaincy Training School and the Christian Formation and Ministry department at Wheaton College offered introductory and advanced courses in correctional ministries, June 9-13, 2008.
These are the first two classes of what may become a five-class sequence, leading to a certificate in prison ministries. The program can also be combined with a Masters program in Christian Formation and Ministry offered by Wheaton College Graduate School. For details on the CFM program, see www.wheatoncf.net .
This video came from interviewing a random sample of students during breaks and over dinner. Their views of the classes are uniformly positive, and reveal much about the training. While the interviews were edited, a portion of every interview is included in the film, and thus the perspectives of everyone interviewed are represented.
