Treatment Rooms - The Luis Ramirez Story
I donât know if itâs because I am Mac user or because Archive doesnât support the Safari browser but Logging in and downloading Treatment Rooms took considerable time. Downloading the 261 Mb file at a speed of 9Kb took 9 hours and 20 min. While writing this I am still patiently waiting to log in to review section. In the meantime hereâs a tip for Mac users â if youâre attempting to download Treatment Rooms, go to all files, choose HTTP then get busy with something else. Waiting is excruciating.
But Iâm not bitter because it was worth it.
Treatment Rooms is a story of the miscarriage of justice in America as told in the film by artist Baroness von Reichardt. Itâs an often told but still shaking to the bone tale of a Hispanic boy being in the wrong place at the wrong time who, after 6 years on Death Row, was finally executed in October 2005.
The documentary also follows Baroness von Reichardt creating a 22ft by 6ft mosaic dedicated to Luis Ramirez on the walls of her home in Chiswick.
The film with its clear theme of âYou gonna fight for your right to be an artistâ is a delightful mixture of music, art, tragedy and the personal struggle for humanity and justice.
The imagery in the movie is sharp and strong, which coupled with a delicious, vivid urban beats soundtrack provided by the Punkvert posse make it compassionate and fascinating viewing.
If you are tired of commercialism creeping in on you from all angles in your day to day existence, watch Treatment Rooms as a big âtwo fingers salute to the authoritiesâ and take strength.
In the Baroness own words - 'fuckin aving it'
Mucho machy
