-A conversation with Alyssa Burgin, activist and organizer for environmental, political, and social justice issues. A fifth-generation Texan, she is the daughter of a labor union organizer and a San Antonio newspaperwoman and artist. She has been a grassroots lobbyist for climate change legislation and started the Texas Drought Project to educate Texans about coming water crises. She is media and outreach director of Texans for Peace. She has worked in politics, in press advance positions in presidential campaigns, and as an international crisis media consultant in two kidnappings in Iraq.
