Martin Duberman is the author of dual biography, "A Saving Remnant: The Radical Lives of Barbara Deming and David McReynolds," published in 2011 by The New Press. Duberman is Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the History Department at the CUNY Graduate Center, where he founded the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies. Widely known for his memoir "Cures: A Gay Man’s Odyssey," he was the recipient of the American Historical Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Scholarship. David McReyonlds is a pacifist activist who worked for four decades on the staff of the War Resisters League and chaired War Resisters International. He was the Socialist Party candidate for President in 1980 and 2000 He came out publicly as gay in an historic article in the War Resisters League Magazine, WIN, in 1969.
