The 13th Lone Star/Paul Malvern Productions westerns starring Wayne and Hayes. Good, tight little western, a bit short on action - gun and fist fights - but moves long quickly and is engaging from start to finish. IMDb says 57:00, but we get
53:00 here. Its well directed by R.N. Bradbury, who directed lots of westerns and was the father of westerns' star Bob Steele. A young John Wayne, thin, low key and handsome along with George Hayes as a typically grizzled old timer are both good. So are the seasoned bad guys who knew how to carry it off: LeRoy Mason, Art Dillard and uncredited Herman Hack, Artie Ortega and others. Sweet cutie Lucille Browne is good as Wayne's love interest. According to IMDb, Browne appeared in 46 movies/TV shows between 1930-50. She was married to supporting actor James Flavin. Good fun, enjoy.
