and these torsos.. and these feet...
Another one of these films where you're not too sure who the heck it's made for. While I'll give full amrks on it's presentation, I kind of wonder if it might've been too intense for Mr and Mrs Joe Public to swallow. We follow mostly Soldiers who are injured on the battlefield, and the medics who try to ease their pain. We see them all, shell shocked soldiers, bloodied up soldiers etc. This film is also nicely shot, but again may be too intense for some people. Reccomended!

Cost of war
By far the most graphic war bond movie I've seen, clearly intended to kick the complacency out of an American public that, by 1945, had grown weary of war. It uses some brutal combat footage from the island hopping campaigns in the Pacific to show how war bond money was used to care for wounded American troops--from initial wounding on the front line to convalescence on a hospital ship. Shows the human costs of war; should be required viewing.

Intense is right
Agonizing color footage of WWII casualties, both physical and psychological, and the people who treat them. Maybe it's because I'm used to seeing idealized B/W film of WWII, but these bearded, shirtless, bloody, shell-shocked soldiers bear a striking resemblance to Vietnam-era news footage. Up close, personal, and intense..
