* Single-segment, "Original Mode", New Game as Jill in 1:07:47 by ZENO (2007.6.2)
* Single-segment, "Original Mode", New Game as Chris in 58:04 by ZENO (2007.6.17)

These movies are records for single-segment speedruns of Bio Hazard (Resident Evil (JPN), Director's Cut, Not Dual Shock ver.) as Chris on PlayStation2 (SCPH77000)-Fast setting ("PS2-Fast";) and as Jill on PlayStation (SCPH9000) ("PS";).

(1) Difference between Software ver. ("Original" or "Director's cut (DC)";)

Disc reading speed for "DC" is designed faster than that of "Original". That means, even you play the game in exactly the same way, the result time from "DC" is shorter (faster) than that from "Original". According to my investigation, the play of 1hr 07min 47sec (2007.6.2) in "DC" as Jill is equivalent to 1hr 09min 26sec (2007.5.30) in "Original". In both case, "PS" was used as a console. Estimated error in each play is within the range of ± 7 sec.

(2) Difference between consoles

This is very well known issue. Because of the difference of the loading speed depends on consoles, the result time is different even you play the game in exactly the same way using the same Software ver. According to my investigation using "Original" ver. as Jill, the play of 1hr 09min 26sec on "PS" is equivalent to approximately 1hr 03min 32sec (2007.5.28) on "PS2–Fast" (this time is not very accurate though). And by using "Original" ver. as Chris, the play of 1hr 05min 28sec (2007.6.3) on "PS" is equivalent to 59min 46sec (2007.5.18) on "PS2-Fast".

I will also write down some detailed data using Jill, just for your information. The time shown is from "DC" and the time shown in the parenthesis is from "Original". The moment I chose "New Game" was the time "0". It took (1) 5min 57sec (6min 05sec) on "PS" until you obtain the "Chemical", (2) 5min 46sec (5min 49sec) on "PS2-Normal", and (3) 5min 32sec (5min 37sec) on "PS2-Fast". In the case of Chris, it took 3min 24sec (3min 37sec) on "PS2-Fast" until Chris touched the door of the storage room (where he met Rebecca).

(3) Difference between JPN ver. and USA ver.

There is a slight difference in vitality of Chris and Jill between JPN ver. and USA ver. According to my investigation, Chris dies after being bitten 15 times and Jill dies after being bitten 10 times by zombies in JPN ver. While in USA ver., Chris dies after being bitten 12 times and Jill dies after being bitten 9 times.

So, I think the play condition for Jill is almost the same between JPN ver. and USA ver. However, I needed to consider about Chris because of the huge difference of his vitality between versions. I used the 1st Fast Aid Spray when I used Emblem (there is no difference at this stage between JPN ver. and USA ver.). The question is: Where should I use the 2nd Fast Aid Spray to be fair with the USA ver. ? And I decided to use it during the Yawn-2nd fight. Then there should be no vitality difference between JPN ver, and USA ver.

Because of some misfortune and mistakes, I speculate that 57min 53sec would be the limit time for Chris under this condition. In the case of Jill to the contrary, I did not need "fortune" so much because of the quick boss fighting. However, because of that it was not so easy to achieve my satisfied play. I myself had a hard time to achieve this play. I speculate that 1hr 07min 32sec would be the limit time for Jill under this condition. So, my record "1:07:47" as Jill might not be so easy to beat under the same condition, although it is easy to beat by using PS2 or PS3.
