Subject: Pleasantly surprised
I only know English, and the only thing i had trouble with was that i couldn't understand some of the words Rudy was singing in the Kashmiri song. Now this is probably due to both Rudy's accent, and the fact that the recording is so old and scratchy. So, i found the lyrics to the Kashmiri song from the net, and i followed along with Rudy. I found the Kashmiri song a pleasant romantic ballad with a swaying melody.
I was very curious to hear Rudy, but worried his voice would be too high or something. But, his voice sounds very masculine. =) Then, i was worried about his singing. But, i think he sings fine. The style of these songs are that of the era in the 1920s. So, the way Rudy sings is just the style of the times. Other men in the 1920s sing this way. But, Rudy was able to hold notes while quivering his voice. He was not off key, but rather he seemed to sing all the right notes. He's no Tony Bennett, but Rudy's not bad at all. =)

Subject: not all that bad
he's not that bad. The kashmiri song is a beautiful song. Is that Rudy talking at the beginning? He says 'mr. Valentino,' unless Rudy is speaking in third person. He's is not a terrible singer, but thank goodness he could act better than he sang!

Which is what Rudolph Valentino reportedly said about these recordings. Doesn't appear like he took them too seriously.

They do make one wonder if he would made it in talking pictures. I think so. Just not as a singer. lol

He didn't seem to have too thick an Italian accent. The timbre of his voice probably would have carried him through. He made several radio and personal appearances and I've not read anything that indicated the public had a problem with his speech.

His singing is horrible. It is very very bad. I laugh when I heard it, its so terrible. Ramon Novarro is good though. You should put his singing audios on here instead.
