Crabbe & St. John in One More Real Western
This film is part of PRC's series featuring Buster Crabbe (Billy Carson) and Al St/ John (Fuzzy Q. Jones). They've rehabilitated Crabbe from his Billy the Kid role so he didn't have to keep making excuses for being a wanted killer. They've also given St. John fewer stupid comedy routines to go through, putting this film much more squarely in the realm of "westerns'" The plot is an over used one - the rich banker John Merton and the rich saloon owner Charles King (every hero's favorite punching bag) are trying to cheat the ranchers out of their cattle, farms and in the case at hand, a man's farm, cattle and meat packing plant. Billy has been sent along on this cattle drive to the packing plant to make sure it all goes well. Patti McCarty again provides the pretty face in a Crabbe western. IMDb says between 1939-46 she appeared in 24 films and was credited in 15 - then she moved to Hawaii to work in advertising. As usual there's LOTS of riding back and forth, a few fist fights, some gun play and some cattle herding. Nothing special, just your average B western.
