Toqueface Benalto once wrote "SAG were Kings". He was, of course, entirely mistaken.
Originally known as Barbie Purvis, SAG were one of the least talented bands to emerge from Red Deer's second golden age of punk. "Able" was the first recording under the name SAG (Barbie Purvis released "We Are The Worst" and "Welcome To The Rapture" to a distinctly disinterested public). Only five cassette copies were actually sold so it's highly unlikely that any copies survive in the wild. SAG also recorded a follow-up "studio" album ("Fallen") and a live EP ("Live & Lousy" recorded at Red Deer College's infamous Farside lounge), both of which are still mercifully unreleased at this time.

Subject: True Sludge
Sag weren't about politics. Sag weren't about hooks. Sag weren't about 'rocking out'. Sag weren't about pleasing the listener. Sag weren't even making records that they themselves wanted to listen to. Sag were all about taking an aesthetic and pushing it to it's extreme, creating unpleasant environments the local 'punks' were too scared to even dip a toe into. Sag is the sound of boredom, of annoyance, of pain. Chuck Berry has nothing on Sag. Let there be Sag.
