Filmed and edited by Sherab GyatsoSaji Laru (2002)

Sherab Gyatso filmed portions of the lu-rol/ klu rol/ laru ritual on the seventeenth day of the sixth lunar month of 2002 in Saji Village (and nearby areas), Longwu/ Reb-gong Town, Tongren County, Qinghai Province, PR China. Lu-rol allows for symbolic communication between mountain deities and villagers. Saji elders say lu-rol gives villagers good luck and strengthens a sense of village solidarity. See http://2007.tibetmagazine.net/en/c&r2002-2-1.htm for more on the Saji lu-rol and also Dpal ldan bkra shis and Kevin Stuart. 1998. ‘Perilous Novelties’: The A mdo Tibetan Klu rol Festival in Gling rgyal Village.
