Frank Blevins & The Tar Heel RattlersFrank Blevins & His Tar Heel Rattlers-Sally Ann (November 8, 1927)

Recorded on November 8, 1927 in Atlanata, Georgia. Fiddler Frank Blevins was only 16 years old at the time that he recorded this tune with his brother Edd Blevins on guitar and fred Miller on banjo. According to Marshall Wyatt they received at least part of their inspiration for this wild version thanks to some choice shots of corn liquor. "Sally Ann" is a version of a tune that also goes by "Great Big Taters In Sandy Land," "Briar Patch," and "Sail Away Ladies." It is one of the most popular of all fiddle tunes.
