The large mango tree at the center of San Pablo City town plaza has long been a landmark and has been around for as long as anyone can remember.
Fondly called "SM" or "Sa Mangga" for short, the mango tree was badly damaged during the the devastation of Typhoon Milenyo on September 28, 2006. The full extent of the damage can be clearly seen in the second and third segment of this video.
This was taken a little after 5pm on December 31, 2006, as San Pablo City prepares to enter 2007.
*I make a cameo 2:45 into the video. I'm the guy in a beige shirt passing in the foreground.
*The song being played in the third segment is "Miss, Miss, Sa Loob ng Jeepney" by the Filipino band Grin Department. It's playing in a bargain Bodega Store on the right just off the screen.
*The man in yellow at the beginning of the 3rd segment is a barker for a jeepney parked on the right just off the screen.
