Delightful mystery.
The special effects scene of the interior of a railway car being struck by a steam locomotive was convincing.
The romance between the leads was less believable.
You will find this a bright and airy hour.

Great repartee between the leads. Fast moving plot. Well written and filmed. Don't know what the naysayers were expecting...
Try it you'll like it!!!!

The situations were just as funny, and the repartee between the two leads was just as cute and snappy as the other reviewers said they were, up until this scene:
"This is a double sleeper." [Two beds in one compartment on the train.]
"You forget, I thought you were a man." [No surprise, he was expecting someone named "Caryl," pronounced "Carl."]
"I'd hoped I'd removed that impression."
"You have. Uhmm… Where are you going to sleep?"
"Well, that's easy: right here."
"Well, everything's taken! Where am I going to sleep?"
"I don't care…"
"That's very sweet of you, dear." [As he's taking off his coat.]
"Ah ah, just a minute…"
Guess who spends the night in the pantry, looking like another can of Alpo? Action soon intervenes but, if the rest of their interplay looks like this, I'll pass, thank you.
Will Rogers once said, "Everything is funny so long as it's happening to someone else." If it's happened to you enough times, it might instead be an ugly reminder of something that you would much rather forget.
There's been an increasing amount of talk about the "new" media stereotype of men as well-meaning but inept and bumbling losers, especially when confronted by determined women who seem to stop at nothing to have what they want, or whose vindictiveness knows no bounds. I've learned from watching old movies on IA that these stereotypes are nothing new, and that MRA's and MGTOW's have been a long time in the making. In this sense, The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) is a special film to me, because the two protagonists are both powerful and effective people who are equally matched.

...but the previous reviews encouraged me to finish it. I'm glad I did.
I do see the similarity with the classic British Hitchcock films, and agree that this movie is top notch. Well scripted, acted and directed. If you like early Alfred Hitchcock, you will like Seven Sinners.
Added to the list of my favorite movies.
5 stars.

An unbilled and uncredited James Robertson Justice shows up at the hotel and is at the site of the first train wreck. His first credit is not until 1944 in "For Those in Peril" but he is unmistakable. Now watch me having made a mistake.
The train wrecks are very well done.
Edmund Lowe and Constance Cummings are a delight. :)

... the film starring Marlene Dietrich and John Wayne made in 1940. This is an English feature released as "Doomed Cargo" in the US to avoid confusion (and not the other way round as I wrongly mentionned earlier) . More info on http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028240/

This movie and Hitchcock's 39 Steps have a lot in common, however this was fun to watch and entertaining.

Well done Hitchcock-like thriller/comedy with funny intelligent written dialogue between the two leads who unwillingly work together in the investigation.
According to IMDb the film makers reused footage of a real train wrecking which was staged for a british film that was shot in 1929 named "The Wrecker".

This is an engaging thriller, thanks mostly to a good screenplay, and the interplay between the leads, Edmund Lowe and Constance Cummings. Their wisecracking was fun, though it did get a bit glib. The movie brought to my mind Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes and Foreign Correspondent. It was well directed for the most part, with good pacing.
I downloaded the 390MB AVI file. Video showed compression artifacts briefly a couple of times, though it and the audio quality was otherwise fine.
